"Desplechin's ambitious widescreen tale overflows with inescapable emotion." - Screen International

When Junon (Catherine Deneuve) and her husband assemble their oddball clan - all seemingly suffering from some kind of psychological or social malady - for Christmas celebrations, it isn't long before old family tensions and rivalries boil over.

With brother and sister Henri and Elizabeth (played by The Diving Bell and the Butterfly co-stars Mathieu Almaric and Anne Consigny) at each other's throats, Junon announces that she is suffering from a rare genetic disease, and will need a bone marrow transplant from someone in the family - but will anyone be willing to give?

Filmmaker Arnaud Desplechin's Kings and Queen featured at MIFF in 2005.
