RED RIDING 1974 (MA15+)
“Deep, dark Yorkshire Noir.” - Independent
Brilliantly adapted from the novels of David Pearce and directed by filmmaker Julian Jarrold (Brideshead Revisited, Kinky Boots), Red Riding: 1974 is first instalment of the Red Riding trilogy, three films that chronicle the real-life Yorkshire Ripper murders in the 70s and 80s, and the corrupt and fallible police force that was left to solve them.
When a girl goes missing, rookie crime reporter Eddie Dunford is determined to get the big scoop on the story, but is unwittingly drawn into the dark world of a possible serial killer with a grim calling card.
An eerie, dreamlike, visceral whodunit.
The second and third instalment of the Red Riding trilogy are also screening at this year's Festival.
