RED RIDING 1980 (MA15+)
“They attempt to map the circulatory system of evil, how a place can become poisoned in its bloodstream.” - Independent
The Red Riding trilogy takes on a harder edge in this second instalment directed by filmmaker James Marsh (Man on Wire, MIFF 08). In Red Riding: 1980 we return to Yorkshire six years after the first film to join the crooked and lacklustre police force as it tries to hunt down the man that would become known as the Yorkshire Ripper.
Features a standout performance from Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes, MIFF 05; The Bourne Ultimatum) as the old-school detective assigned to take on the case.
The first and third instalments of the Red Riding trilogy are also screening at this year's Festival.
