OUTRAGE
“A vital and - considering the current debate over the constitutionality of gay marriage - very timely cinematic assault on the hypocrites in our midst.” - Hollywood Reporter
Controversial filmmaker Kirby Dick (This Film is Not Yet Rated, MIFF 06) flings Washington's closet door wide open for some spring cleaning in Outrage, a naming and shaming of top US politicians who support anti-gay-rights campaigns whilst living a secret double life.
Exposing hypocrisy with the skill of Michael Moore, Kirby speaks to gay ex-partners and lovers of political figures - mostly Republican - who fight against same-sex marriages, gay rights and even funding for AIDS research.
Confronting and unapologetic (and attracting severe criticism for outing people against their will) Outrage paints a picture of a Capitol Hill teeming with suppressed pollies cynically trading on bigotry to enhance their own power and status.
