VILLA AMALIA

Director Benoît Jacquot / 2009 / France

“Enigmatic, fascinating, alternately bitter and defiant, Isabelle Huppert commands the screen at every moment.” - New York Times

After finding her boyfriend in the arms of another woman, renowned pianist Ann Hidden decides to completely deconstruct her life. Closing down bank accounts, burning and selling her possessions, she sets herself on a course that will eventually take her to the coast of Italy, to a small picturesque villa perched on an island off the coast of Naples.

The fifth collaboration between filmmaker Benoît Jacquot (The Untouchable, MIFF 07) and actress Isabelle Huppert (8 Women, I Heart Huckabees) finds them both in peak form, with this intriguing story of a woman tearing her world apart in order to start anew.
