SWEET RUSH

Tatarak

Director Andrzej Wajda / 2008 / Poland

“A small gemstone that glistens in the memory long after the lights come up.” - Hollywood Reporter

The story of a middle-aged woman finding sexual reawakening with a young man after losing her sons during the war is intermingled with an affecting exploration of the nature of loss and grief.

For the scripting of Sweet Rush director Andrzej Wajda (Katyn, MIFF 08) collaborated closely with star Krystyna Janda, whose husband passed away during production - something that profoundly influenced a core aspect of the film, a compelling look at the strange process of grieving.

The striking Polish landscape is lusciously captured by the expert photography of Pawel Edelman (The Pianist).

Winner of the Alfred Bauer Award at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival.
