DOGTOOTH

Director Yorgos Lanthimos / 2009 / Greece

“Three indefinitely grounded siblings are stuck in an alternative universe dictated by their parents' cruel whimsies - think an eternal Big Brother house as designed by Lars von Trier.” - Variety

A desperate (or desperately mad) father tries to protect his three grown children from becoming contaminated by the outside world by confining them to a surreal domestic fantasy land.

With a tall fence keeping them in, a secret telephone that only their mother knows about and a collection of cassette tapes to make all the bad words good (a ‘zombie' is ‘a little flower'), life for the three siblings is eerily sterile and constant - but it doesn't take much to send their world violently out of control.

Winner of the Un Certain Regard Award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
