TOWN CALLED PANIC, A

Panique au Village

Director Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar / 2009 / Belgium, France, Luxembourg

A manic and charismatic film that breaks all speed records for whimsy and slapstick.

Housemates Indian, Cowboy and the love-struck Horse live in a rural town populated with a gaggle of plastic toys, including a hyperactive postman, musical farm animals and pointy-headed bad guys. Their adventures take them to the North Pole, the centre of the earth and even the bottom of the ocean. All the while they twist and twitch on their little stands and speak in gruff helium voices.

Sprung from the cult-classic series of the same name, this film from Belgian duo Stephane Aubier and Vincent Patar outstrips all others for sheer lo-fi inventiveness and breakneck pace.
