In the early days of the Communist takeover of Yugoslavia, a dedicated youth who believes in the new world and its methods, makes his way to a village to hand out UNRRA parcels to the villagers. But he and his fellow workers are ambushed by guerrillas and their leader is killed. The young man becomes even more active in social works for the Party; but he is also ordered to stop loving the daughter of a rich man, a lawyer who has been condemned by a Communist court. He cannot do so, but he decides to get her into the movement. She enjoys her new freedom by indulging it with many men; but he, despite his revolutionary zeal, has old-fashioned romantic ideas about fidelity...
