The New Gulliver
The New Gulliver is an ambitious puppet novelty in the Russian film world, fantastically delivered. It differs fromfthe ordinary puppet shows in that the chief part, Gulliver himself, is played by a human being, though the story of the film is carried out by puppets. The first excerpt shows Gulliver lying on the beach, closely guarded by Lilliputian soldiers.
When the all-powerful police chief arrives he orders the drugging of Gulliver. Meanwhile the Senate meets to discuss his fate. The scene ends with the police chief declaring that Gulliver should be drafted into the army. In the second excerpt Gulliver eats at a great fair, watched by the Lilliputian royalty and courtiers. A crane lifts barrels of drink, no larger than mugs to him, and a conveyor belt supplies the dishes of food.
