THE POEM

PESMA

Director Rados Novakovic / 1961 / Yugoslavia

This Yugoslav film is set during the Nazi occupation. A group of young Communists plan to join the partisans and to take a famous poet along with them. The poet is caught by the Gestapo but is freed by the group; but the price for his liberation is a heavy one. The atmosphere is well captured with good photography and acting. Some of the scenes are very well handled and the ending is very effective. The Poem was shown at the Pula Film Festival.
