IF THE WIND FRIGHTENS YOU
SI LE VENT TE FAIT PEUR
Pierre and Claude, brother and sister, spend their holidays camping on the sands of the North Sea coast. Living together and seeing the same people the year round has created between them a bond to which they are but slowly awakening. They understand each other too well, and this creates between them and the outer world a difficult barrier to overcome.
Slowly they realize the deep love between them, realize also that the world will condemn them, but at the age of twenty, it matters little what the world thinks: there are other summers.
This film by Belgian director, Emile Degelin, about brother and sister who come to realize an erotic tension which they will not acknowledge, created much comment at Cannes. Although the characters are little more than symbolic figures, the film, without resorting to sensationalism, still evokes the sensuousness and mystery of youth.
