OPEN THE DOOR AND SEE ALL THE PEOPLE
This is a comedy fantasy involving such disparate elements as Chinese restaurants, kidnapping gypsies, and twin sisters who switch identities. The film centres on the differing values of two New England families headed by the seventy-year-old Green twins. Alma, a happy-go-lucky individualist who works in a food market and who has an adopted family of all ages — and Thelma, a wealthy, superstitious, domineering old hypochondriac who lives in a dreary castle where she holds her granddaughter a prisoner in a tower room.
