IMAGE BEFORE MY EYES

Director Josh Waletzky / 1980 / USA

Image Before My Eyes is a uniquely intelligent and sensitive portrayal of the vitality and diversity of Jewish life in pre-World War Two Poland. Through the use of rare documentary footage. "home movies". music, photographs and interviews with survivors, the film recreates the full texture of a way of life that was thought lost forever — the rich and the poor: the religious and the secular: the shtetl and the city; the worldly and the provincial: and the wide spectrum of political ideologies.

Image Before My Eyes is Josh Waletzky's first feature film.
