UNSTABLE ELEMENTS
On one level a standard documentary detailing the evolution of a nuclear Britain since the Second World War, but in combining several stories (particularly a fictional section), the film examines the way the tunnel vision of the atomic scientists is reflected in family life. As the nuclear industry continues to provoke controversy with its plans for expansion, the film reflects upon a practice which sees nature as a resource to be dominated and exploited. This is achieved by tracing the history of the nuclear industry in Britain, and by inquiring into the roots of scientific rationality.
