THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO AL GREEN

Director Robert Mugge / 1984 / USA

In the early 1970s Al Green was regarded as the most influential and sexiest soul singer recording in Memphis, Tennessee. However, in 1973, following a concert at Disneyland, Green became "born again". Three years later he decided to devote himself exclusively to the religious life and founded a church in Memphis under the title of The Full Gospel Tabernacle. As resident preacher. Green helped his church and ministry expand and flourish, and at the same time struggled his way back into public consciousness as one of the most popular performers of American gospel music. The Reverend Al Green has one final goal to achieve — to become the greatest evangelist in the world.
