Przepraszam, czy tu bija?

Director Marek Piwowski / 1976 / Poland

Bogey, a Warsaw delinquent, is graduating from petty crime into the big-time, with plans for an elaborate raid on a jewellery store in order to test his accomplices before the raid, Bogey stages a fake hold-up, and discovers that one of his boys has squealed on him.

While he is tracking down the informant, the two police inspectors Milde and Gorny, (who are played by Polish boxers) realise that the crime was only a preparation for something bigger. They suspect that Bogey is planning an armed robbery, so they trail him They want to catch the gang red-handed, and arrange for their own plant, whose alias is Student, to join the conspiracy For some time he succeeds in fooling Bogey.

The film scores critical points more broadly about contemporary Polish society, while the police are represented in an ambiguous light .The Polish title means 'Pardon me, but do you beat people up here'', a line which is addressed to the police chief by a suspect.
