THE CITIZEN
Deserted by his wife, Thongpoon comes to Bangkok to save for his small son's future education by working as a taxi driver. His concern for others and his trusting nature allow him to be cheated by many of his fares, but win him the friendship of two: a legless cripple and a city prostitute. But the wortd crowds in on him when he is beaten up by a gang of louts, who steal his taxi and his money. The police are indifferent, his landlady heartless, and he finds shelter with the prostitute.
Helped by the cripple. Thongpoon continues his pursuit of the thieves, without results. The ineffectual police offer him no protection against severe beatings that he receives during his search.
Disillusioned with the police, he pleads with his friends for help, but only one, an old man is willing to come to his aid. The old man discovers the place where stolen cars are being converted, and Thongpoon breaks into the place. When he is attacked, he kills his assailants. The owner of the works offers him a car, any car he likes, but Thongpoon insists in getting back his own...
