HOMECOMINGS
Dirk De Bruyn has made a number of distinctive (usually short) experimental films since the 70's. Homecomings an avant garde examination/diary of the filmmaker's roots is by far his most ambitious film to date
In 1983, De Bruyn and his wife and two sons returned to The Netherlands, 25 years after he had migrated with his parents to Australia as an eight year old
The film uses a wide spectrum of film styles and techniques (including elaborate time-lapse photography and animation} to explore and develop the diary form of filmmaking which the filmmaker sees as a form ideally suited to a personal cinema.
