Goodbye Federico
This funny, fantastical personal fable traces a woman's relationship with Italian film director Federico Fellini and her desire to change her life. The film tells the real and imagined tale of Eileen, who has been writing letters to Fellini, a figure who has become her friend, mentor and means of escape. Various rejections and a sense of isolation lead her to gradually lose grip on reality and retreat into her own world. She has one last hope; to join Federico in Cinecitta. The process of cinephilia turning into cinedementia is exuberantly portrayed throughout this bittersweet farce which is studded with filmic references.
