Kakadu Man
A film about the jewel of Australia's national parks, Kakadu, and about the teachings of Bill Niedjie (Kakadu Man).
Kakadu Man is Bill Niedjie's story, a story of the land, looked after for thousands of years by the indigenous Australian aborigines, now abused. This theme is translated through the use of actors and puppet characters and scenes of Kakadu.
The story which unfolds is sensitive and often humorous, weaving together the figurative and the abstract, the past and present. Behind the film is a very important message, that mankind must take care of and respect the earth.
The pacing and content of this very excellent documentary (winner of the Best Documentary at the 1990 ATOM Awards to short, educational films and videotapes) is particularly suitable for and accessible to children.
