Introduction to the End of an Argument
In the 1950's, the French leftwing political artists-philosophers known as the Situationists invented a raw (and illegal) form of the 'compilation film' — gathering fragments from mainstream cinema, while somehow altering or twisting their meaning. Introduction To The End Of An Argument is a modern situational tape somewhat in the tradition of the British scratch video. Pirating and assembling an enormous number of clips, from nightly TV news and movies (from Exodus to Ishtar) that reveal appalling American representations of Arabs and their ideology, this is a chillingly illuminating, politically provocative work, unafraid to broadcast its vision of an insidious American-Israeli collusion in world affairs.
