Darling Child
A camera scoots around empty rooms, careering in and out of windows, threatening to end its trajectory by stepping out into the void, by looking too far. The rooms shift from colour to black & white. Outside is all concrete grey, inside a monitor flickers absently. Kalin's stark and lyrical imagery rhymes with the deep melancholy of Truman Capote's text & Brian Eno's transient soundtrack, both of which offer a neat counterpoint to the film's ethereal and world-weary tone.
