This paint-on-glass animation from the Philippines tells the story of a village destroyed by volcano and the people's struggle to hold on to happiness. With a lush overlay of colour and natural form, and despite the seemingly tragic narrative, this is a joyful use of this painstaking medium. There is a grace here, a natural interplay of people and the environment, that yields a flowing and ultimately, very human film.
