Staggerings

Director Peter Collis / 1997 / UK

As a slow, relentless state of transformation persists across the screen, elements of the natural world are cut up and re-ordered. Based on a series of black and white collage photographs, Staggerings uses repetition and rhythm change and development as the subject at the heart of the piece.

Despite being an architectural construction, the evolving coilages retain aspects and dynamics of the original sources, so it is perceived as though one is watching moments that are consistent with natural phenomena.Staggerings uses a mix of traditional photography and film-making techniques and new computer image manipulation.
