If love can conquer the wintry cold, hunger, poverty and even violence, then you're really swimming in the thick realms of commitment and obsession. When David (Florian Setter) loses his job as a construction worker, he meets a prostitute named Mane (Sabine Timofeo) and they fall truly, madly, deeply in love. It is winter in Berlin and all they want to do is flee the city. Thus begins a long voyage through frost and desert that eventually leads them to the French coast. This experimental road-movie sees two fairly unknown actors explore themes of passion and love German film director Philip Groning puts the emphasis on experimental images and soundtrack scenes that make for exciting viewing including Velvet Underground and Lou Reed. Surprise hit at the Locarno Film Festival.
