A SKIN TOO FEW: THE DAYS OF NICK DRAKE
One autumn morning in 1974. Nick Drake was found dead, having left the world three impossibly beautiful albums. Drake died silently, isolated by the grip of a terminal depression. His sensitivity was the basis of his towering talent. As Paul Weller says in this sublime documentary, "If you met a girl, went back to her home and saw she had a Nick Drake album, you'd think about marrying her.'' Drake was able to capture the essence and subtlety of romance like the great poets he so admired. Introverted in the extreme, Drake quit live performance for good a few dates into his very first tour. This film approaches the silent landscapes, people and music of this unorthodox loner and musical genius. A Skin Too Few profiles an artist of integrity who symbolises the destructive effect of loneliness and misunderstanding. A haunting and truly memorable documentary.
