THEY ALL LIE

Director Matias Piñeiro / 2009 / Argentina

“Charged by a whip-smart, deadpan approach, overflowing with talk that seems to be delivered at the speed of sound, if not light.” - Variety

For a group of twenty-somethings, being holed up in a house in the middle of nowhere over the long Argentinean summer leads to flirtation and fun. But in the languor of the hot day, idle conversation can have deeper meaning, and playful games take on sinister undertones.

Young, award-winning filmmaker Matías Piñeiro brings Rivettian intrigue and a capricious wit to They All Lie, a story of youth and group dynamics that may also be seen as a cleverly disguised allegory for Argentina's chequered political history.

Director Matías Piñeiro is a guest of the Festival.
