EXODUS: BURNT BY THE SUN 2
A long-awaited sequel and the most expensive Russian film ever made.
Burnt by the Sun claimed both the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film and the Cannes Grand Prix in 1994. It took eight years to produce the film's follow-up - allegedly so filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov could let his actors age naturally - but the wait has culminated in a sweeping war epic set against the WWII German invasion of Russia, packed with large-scale battle scenes and explosive action.
Mikhalkov, reprising his role of General Kotov, in 1941 escapes from the internment camp to which he was sentenced by the Stalin regime. Believing his family to have perished, he fights the invading Germans - but unbeknownst to him his daughter has survived, and will have her own trials to face in the coming conflict.
