TETRO

Director Francis Ford Coppola / 2009 / USA

Francis Ford Coppola returns to his roots with a psychological family drama about two brothers living in the shadow of their father.

When Bennie tracks down his estranged brother Angelo (Vincent Gallo) in Buenos Aires, the reunion isn't all that he hoped for. Angelo is angry and resentful, but as the two gradually get to know each other, pieces of the family's past - and the brothers' treatment at the hands of their egotistical father - begin to come to light.

Coppola's first original script since The Conversation (1974), Tetro is a striking black and white homage to the classic New Hollywood cinema of the 1970s. Features an outstanding performance from 18-year-old newcomer Alden Ehrenreich as Bennie.
