THE TROTSKY
TROTSKY, THE
Join the revolution.
Fighting the apathy of his peers,17-year old student Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel) is the reincarnation of Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky - or so he believes. His plans of getting exiled twice, marrying an older woman named Alexandra and getting assassinated someplace warm are all coming together, but first he has to lead his high school into revolution.
With traces of Wes Anderson's Rushmore, writer-director Jacob Tierney's film is a witty and likable manifesto about standing up to the man, whoever he might be.
The Trotsky has been the recipient of multiple awards, including the Audience Award at the 2009 Tokyo International Film Festival.
“A smartly-paced rib-tickler that wears its heart on the sleeve of its collectivist tunic.” - Screen International
