"A film which transcends genre ... empathetic and compassionate, yet not sentimental." – FilmInk

After her son died tragically, Mahboba Rawi left behind her life in Sydney to set up a foundation for orphaned children in Afghanistan. Abdul was one of the first children she saved. Now heading into adulthood, he has fallen in love with the girl next door, Fatemeh, but Fatemeh's father disapproves and is determined to keep her under lock and key until he can find a dowry worth his while.

Audience Award winner (Best Documentary) at the Sydney Film Festival, Love Marriage in Kabul is a captivating, emotionally charged film. Following the indomitable Mahboba as she fights to bring Abdul and Fatemeh together, director Amin Palangi draws a tender portrait of everyday injustice and the quiet heroes who will stop at nothing to save those in their care.
