THE NUTTY PROFESSOR
"Lewis constructed one of his sturdiest scripts in The Nutty Professor, and he wasted scarcely a minute of it." – The Dissolve
Julius Kelp is a nerdy, klutzy, unpopular chemistry professor who is bullied by everyone – even his students. Determined to change his life, Kelp invents a potion that transforms him into suave, handsome ladies' man Buddy Love. But the potion is unpredictable: its effect is temporary, and Love finds he could turn back into the geeky Kelp at the worst possible moments!
Jerry Lewis first had the idea for a funny take on Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde when he read the book at age 12, and the notion endured – as has his film: considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the master's greatest works, The Nutty Professor remains a beloved, immensely influential, classic of cinematic comedy, though the opportunity to see it in all its 35mm glory comes along all too rarely.
"Anybody that is not a fan of Jerry Lewis has no taste ... Half of what you see in modern goofball comedy today comes from The Nutty Professor." – Edward Norton
