INFINITY BABY

Director Bob Byington / 2017 / USA

Kieran Culkin, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally and Kevin Corrigan star in cult director Bob Byington's comedic broadside on the absurdities of millennial manhood.

Ben (Kieran Culkin) is having a hard time settling down. Bouncing from relationship to relationship, he bores easily, leading prospective partners on until a run-in with his domineering mother (Megan Mullally) sends them packing. Meanwhile, at work, he's in charge of selling Infinity Babies, a genetic experiment gone wrong, where people addicted to dependence can buy a baby that never ages. But when two of his sales reps go rogue and take an Infinity Baby for themselves, Ben is forced to come face-to-face with the terrifying spectre of his own maturity.

Slacker comedy meets near-future dystopia in Infinity Baby, the latest acid-tongued offering from festival favourite/perennial eccentric Bob Byington (7 Chinese Brothers, MIFF 2015). Starring a who's who of American indie comedy and with a delightfully offbeat script from Onur Tukel, Infinity Baby is character study, thought experiment and snark-filled treatise all in one – but always one hundred percent pure Byington.
