David Wenham
David Wenham has received critical acclaim for his diverse performances in film, theatre and television. He is one of Australia’s most respected actors. Some of his best-known or most acclaimed roles include Faramir in Peter Jackson’s second and third Lord of the Rings instalments; the psychopathic Brett Sprague in Rowan Woods' chilling The Boys (MIFF 2016); Diver Dan in the award-winning ABC TV series Seachange; and Ian Bradley in the AACTA Award-winning series The Code. Most recently he played John Brierley in the Academy Award nominated film Lion.
David first stepped behind the camera to direct the short film Commission, featuring Hugo Weaving and Josh McConville, as part of the collaborative feature Tim Winton’s The Turning (MIFF 2013).
Rowan Woods (Moderator)
Rowan Woods is a critically acclaimed TV and movie director. He is also Head of Directing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. Rowan Woods’ feature film debut The Boys starred Toni Collette and David Wenham. It was nominated for nine AFI Awards, winning Best Director. Since then, he’s worked on Little Fish, starring Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving,The Kettering Incident, The Broken Shore, Farscape, Spartacus, Hunters and Nowhere Boys 3. Rowan will be the set-up director of the 5th season of Rake, having directed in the previous three series.
