Bluey: In Cinema with Joe Brumm
In this very special one-off MIFF 70 event, join Bluey’s creator Joe Brumm in cinema for a screening and conversation at the Astor Theatre.
In terms of homegrown success stories, they don’t come much bigger than Bluey on ABC Kids. Bluey is the number-one kids’ show in Australia, with Series 3 attracting an average of over five million viewers per episode. The Heelers have taken the country and the world by storm, capturing imaginations and playtimes, and sharing the experience of family life itself onscreen as few have done before.
Taking the stage at the Astor Theatre and joined by Oscar-winning animator Adam Elliot (Ernie Biscuit, MIFF 2015; Harvie Krumpet, MIFF 2003; Mary & Max) as moderator, Brumm will speak to a selection of episodes from the show that encapsulate his approach to animated storytelling. Get behind the scenes across the series’s visual and narrative craft, and hear more about the moments that have elevated Bluey into a true-blue cultural phenomenon.
