It's Fine, I'm Fine
A suburban psychologist negotiates the lives, loves and anxieties of her patients in this magic-realist black-comedy series.
It’s Fine, I’m Fine follows Joanne (Ana Maria Belo, The Book of Revelation, MIFF 2006), a psychologist whose clients – played by a knockout cast that includes Heather Mitchell (Blaze, MIFF 2022; Proof, MIFF 1991), Chris Bunton (Lone Wolf, MIFF Premiere Fund 2021; Kairos, MIFF 2019), Eryn Jean Norvill (Preppers; Felony, MIFF 2014) and rising star Catherine Van-Davies (Hungry Ghosts) – are tangled up in varying states of elation, sadness and/or angst. Contending with the dizzying uncertainties of life today, from raining ash to delusions of grandeur to magical poo, the 12-part short-form series satirises and celebrates the resilience of the (haggard) human spirit.
Co-executive-produced by Gracie Otto, this alternately hilarious, moving and insightful compendium of life’s ‘happy/sad’ mess combines dark humour, a touch of the supernatural and tons of therapy to explore all the flaws, idiosyncrasies and hope inherent in our species’ existence. The only Australian project selected for this year’s prestigious Canneseries program, Stef Smith’s It’s Fine, I’m Fine is a fleet, funny and refreshing work from an exciting screen talent.
