MIFF Talks: A Melbourne on Film Conversation & Book Launch
Please note: Tickets to this event include a copy of the book.
Celebrate the launch of MIFF’s new publication commemorating stories of our city on screen with some of its most iconic directors and creators.
To coincide with Melbourne on Film, a special 70th-anniversary curation of films depicting the iconic moments in which our city and our cinema meet, MIFF partnered with Black Inc. to produce an exciting book of essays reflecting on select films from the program. Melbourne on Film – Cinema That Defines Our City celebrates the long, rich and diverse history of filmmaking here through personal reflections on the legacy and influence of these key films by some of the city’s favourite writers, including Christos Tsiolkas, Sarah Krasnostein, John Safran, Osman Faruqi, Tristen Harwood and Judith Lucy.
MIFF programmer Kate Fitzpatrick will host an insightful discussion devoted to the strand, joined by some of the iconic filmmakers and creatives behind films featured in the book: award-winning producer Yael Bergman (Love and Other Catastrophes); legendary director Richard Lowenstein (Dogs in Space); and prolific director, producer and cinematographer David Parker (Malcolm).
