A civilization under threat, clinging to tradition.

In southern Chile, unnoticed by the rest of the world for centuries, a remote community of people exist who call themselves Mapuche-Pehuenche - The People of the Pine Nut. The pine nut is the fruit of the Araucaria tree, the basis of their culture, and what they make their living from.

Now as the modern world encroaches on their territory, the Mapuche-Pehuenche are facing an unprecedented time of change. The Whispering of the Trees tells the story of one family who leave their home once a year to live in the forest and gather nuts, risking life and limb to climb trees 100 feet tall just so they can make enough money to survive through the year.
