Eat (1988) [Short]

Australia (MIFF 1989 , Experimental)
Director: Kathy Drayton

The atmosphere is seedy and nocturnal. Its content takes on a variety of references each related to instinct and daily survival. Waking up, eating, money, sex, drugs, death, the ephemeral nature of newsworthy events. The games that macho males like to play. In its isolation the act of eating a hamburger becomes the subject of creative observation. Eat manages to avoid experimental cliches in favour of a style that is genuinely experimental. -(SC)
