"The film is a masterpiece … the stunningly beautiful and talented Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani carries the story from beginning to end." - Screen Comment

Adapted from writer-director Atiq Rahimi's (Earth and Ashes, MIFF 2005) award-winning novel of the same name, The Patience Stone revolves around the daily confessional of a young wife to her comatose husband, all whilst living under extreme duress in an unnamed, war-torn Middle Eastern village. Able to speak freely for the first time, her monologue begins with frustrations then delves further and further into intimate and increasingly perilous areas.

Co-written by legendary French Screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière (Belle de Jour, The Unbearable Lightness of Being), this is an original take on the plight of women in countries such as Afghanistan, graced with production polish and an extraordinary lead performance from exiled Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani.

"A mesmerizing, modern take on the tales of Scherazade." - Variety
