Miss Savidge

Director Witold Stok / 1983 / UK

In 1969 in order save her medieval house, May Savage dismantled it, numbering all the separate pieces. With the use of eleven lorries, she moved from Ware, Herts., Wells-next-to-the-sea, Norfolk, where she is re-erecting and living in her house.

This creative documentary captures the rhythm of a woman's lonely and endless task. She saws, chisels, hammers, builds, survives Spartan conditions yet, as her voice-over discloses, she never loses hope. But twelve years after it's dismantling the house still remains unfinished.
