Everyday Echo Street: A Summer Diary
Everyday Echo Street is a very personal and idiosyncratic portrait of the filmmaker's relationships and experiences in Highland Park, a working class neighbourhood she has lived in since 1981. The style is both conversational and anecdotal. Mogul combines documentary and diaristic footage and interweaves this with the everyday life of her neighbourhood, a 'Los Angeles' that is never portrayed in Hollywood. Although this diary maintains a strong sense of humour throughout, it also confronts loss, middle-age, living alone and the attempt to come to a new definition of 'home'.
