TIME OF THE WOLF
Le Temps du Loup
This searing new film from Michael Haneke (The Piano Teacher, MIFF 2001, Funny Games, MIFF 1998), starring Isabelle Huppert (The Piano Teacher), arrives straight from Official Selection at Cannes this year, where it divided audiences with its apocalyptic vision and Haneke's utterly rigorous style.
Anna (Huppert) and her family arrive at their country retreat to find it occupied by strangers. A confrontation leads to a shocking killing, forcing the remaining family members to flee for their lives, wandering the countryside for a place of refuge. They eventually find shelter in an abandoned train station, presided over by the mysterious Koslowski (Olivier Gourmet The Son, MIFF 2002), but their safety is still not guaranteed. Co-starring Beatrice Dalle (Betty Blue, Trouble Every Day, the latter screening in MIFF this year) and acclaimed director Patrice Chereau (Queen Margot).
