TROUBLE EVERY DAY
Claire Denis fans, your wait is over, but prepare for the unexpected. Shane (Vincent Gallo, Buffalo 66, MIFF 1998) and Core (Beatrice Dalle, one of French cinema's most internationally recognised faces courtesy of Betty Blue) were part of a team of scientists conducting research in a South Amencan rainforest. The team was exposed to an unknown contagion and since their return Core has been locked in a Paris apartment by her husband. Shane returned to the States but is now in Paris with his new bride, on the pretext of a honeymoon but in reality searching for an explanation for the unspeakable primal urges that have come to wrack his body. Sex and cannibalism have become inextricably linked in the minds of the infected.
Trouble Every Day plays like a fever dream, with loved ones desperately trying to shield their unravelling spouses from certain doom when they can no longer be responsible for their ghastly actions. Score by theTindersticks.
