Director Anna Biller will be a guest of the festival and will be introducing the first screening of Viva

“You're not only a whore, you're a filthy lesbian.” Dangerously sheer negligees, kitsch décor and sizzling innuendos feature in this lurid tribute to sexploitation cinema of the 60s and 70s. This time, however, the genre has been rewritten from a woman's point of view.

Viva centres around one such woman's orgiastic journey towards sexual liberation and empowerment when she throws down the dishcloth and goes looking for adventure. In a feat of independent filmmaking, Viva was written, directed, produced, art-directed and edited by its star, Anna Biller. Her debut feature isn't only a fantastically camp exercise in style, it also takes an enlightened look at the complexities of female desire.

“I detected 41 distinct flavours of sexiness.” - Viva fan
