Written and produced by Otomo, Memories is divided into three episodes —each discreet section addressing a different surreal future.

Magnetic Rose deals with a trio of intergalactic junk dealers plying the spaceways in 2029 Responding to an SOS they encounter a magnificent rose-shaped ship in the middle of a galactic void. Lured into and trapped inside a maze within the structure, the crew are overwhelmed by an operatic virtual archive which induces them to confront their own memories Koji Morimoto's lyrical tale illum­inating the power of passion.

Stink Bomb protagonist Nobuo is oblivious to the fact that he has become a walking death machine after mistaking a new biological warfare capsule for flu medicine. Unaware that he is leaving an ever mounting pile of corpses in his wake. Nobuo heads for a heavily populated Tokyo Tensai Okamitra's hilarious jab at (Japanese militarism)

Otomo's own installment. Cannon fodder. is a 22 minute story told in one scene and one frame It explores a town bristling with cannons, where all industry is directed toward manu­facturing shells and the inhabitants dedicate their lives to artillery and warfare. Amidst the ordnance obsessives a young boy dreams of becoming a star amongst the operators of this formidable battery.
